Tour of California
Last weekend, the Tour of California was announced - a new professional, multi-stage cycling race through California, to be held for the first time late February 2006 - not a bad timing, as everyone is then ramping up their preparation for, as we call it, ‘het klassiek voorseizoen’ (the spring Classics). A bunch of major teams, including Davitamon-Lotto (!), are supposed to participate and hopefully they will send out more than just their rookies.
You can watch the press conference as a webcast (from the official site) - it contains some rather bombastic marketing speak (”we want to be bigger than the Tour De France some day”) but overall this is really cool news.
